Yarrow's genus name "Achillea" comes from the Greek hero Achilles, who legend says used the plant to treat soldiers' wounds — giving it a long-standing reputation as a battlefield herb in Western tradition. 西洋蓍草之學名「Achillea」源自希臘神話英雄阿基里斯，傳說他曾用此植物為戰士治療傷口，因而在西方傳統文化中長期被視為戰場藥草。
