Ravensara aromatica's name comes from the Malagasy language, meaning "fragrant leaf." It is a rare species native to Madagascar within the laurel family, closely related to but botanically distinct from Ravintsara. 羅文莎葉（Ravensara aromatica）之名源自馬達加斯加當地語言，意為「氣味芬芳的葉子」，是島上原生的稀有樟科植物，與桉油樟為近緣但不同種。
