Petitgrain is distilled from the leaves and twigs of the bitter orange tree. In the 18th century it was originally extracted from tiny unripe fruits — hence "petit grain" (little grain) — before shifting to the more economical leaf distillation used today. 苦橙葉萃取自苦橙樹的葉片與嫩枝，18 世紀原本從未成熟的小果實中萃取而得名「Petit grain」（小顆粒），後改以更具經濟效益的葉片蒸餾取代。
