Litsea cubeba, known in Taiwan as "mountain pepper," is a traditional culinary spice used by Taiwanese Indigenous peoples. Its dried fruit carries a distinctive pepper-lemon flavor and has drawn growing international interest from the fragrance industry. 山雞椒又稱「馬告」，是台灣原住民傳統料理中常見的辛香植物，其果實乾燥後帶有類似胡椒與檸檬混合的獨特風味，近年也逐漸受到國際香氛產業關注。
