Benzoin resin has long been an important trade good from Southeast Asia; its name may derive from "frankincense of Java." Medieval European churches commonly burned it as a ceremonial incense resin. 安息香樹脂自古便是東南亞重要的貿易商品，其名稱可能源自「爪哇的乳香」，中世紀歐洲教堂儀式中常將其作為薰香樹脂使用。
